Afraid of the water,
I couldn't cross over Sedona's icy Oak Creek
to get to the other side.
Trespassing my own boundaries and fear
With encouragement from a friend
Over the long narrow log I walked
as if a trapeze wire.
I did it.
On the other side,
Joy is revealed.

Twenty years later,
finally I published the photo beyond fear,
and added a few words.
Enjoy

Joy--You
Keep giving me occasions
to be proud of you.
Look how you, smiling like a feat-accomplishing
toddler, weren't even wearing
tightrope walker's slippers!
Is that a rain stick you carry
or a balancing prop?
